Until Tuesday the 12th of November the small town of Pushkar, India will see a 10 times rise in population! Normally they are home to 21,000 citizens but a week in November every year the city will see over 200,000 tourists traveling from far and wide to see this spectacular festival!
The main attraction of the Pushkar Camel Fair is, of course, the camels. Over 50,000 camels, horses and cattle participate in races, competitions, and camel beauty pageants. Between the events is said to be the most waited event. The camel owners attempt to showcase how their camels will retrieve items for them. People also take the opportunity to sell or trade their livestock.
The fun isn’t exclusive to the camels alone. There are many activities for people there such as big games of tug of war and best mustache competitions. Many vendors sell homemade bracelets, necklaces, clothing, fabrics, and other nick-nacks too.
