101.7 WORLD FM PROUDLY WELCOMES SOME NEW VOICES TO OUR RADIO SOUTH ASIA FAMILY

 

Edmonton’s Radio South Asia audience is about to find their listening experience with 101.7 World FM enriched, as three new hosts introduce three new programs to our comprehensive South Asian broadcast schedule.

 

The Manjinder Punia Show – Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays 9:00 am to 12:00 noon

Manjinder Punia is no stranger to the Edmonton ethnocultural scene.  He emigrated to Canada from India almost 25 years ago.

Manjinder has been a radio host in Edmonton in various capacities since 2006, and is an active and successful member of the City’s business community.

We look forward to a lively, mid-morning talk forum covering the hot topics of the day, from politics to family values to community priorities.

Debut:  Monday, March 27th, 2017 @ 9:00 am

 

The Gurtej Show – Saturdays & Sundays 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Weekends are about to become a focal point for Edmonton’s South Asian community, as Gurtej Brar brings a customized blend of current news & views, social & political commentary, and the latest in entertainment coverage.

An internationally seasoned broadcaster, Gurtej will encourage his listeners to call in their music requests, and to share their points of view with the audience.

Gurtej has a passion for radio, and will bring a high level of energy to ramp up the weekends with an engaging, infectious and delightful manner, that is unique to his personal take on today’s ethnic experience.

Debut:  Sunday, April 2nd, 2017 @ 7:00 pm

This new family-oriented program will surely live up to its name, meaning “Live Life to the Fullest!”  Your host, Shilpy Chawla, looks forward to a weekly social call on the vibrant South Asian community of Edmonton.

Audience interaction and participation are the key to this bright, original show.  Whether it’s “Tea Time Talk,” surveying what’s happening around town and beyond, from festivals to celebrations to events, or an exploration of the Question of the Day, everyone is invited to bring their own ingredients and share them in this broadcast buffet of humour, insight, high energy and fun.

There’s something for young and old, including Shilpy’s unique way of bringing out the best in her listeners, as people share a bit of their lives, whether it’s a routine afternoon of reflection, or an exciting special event.  This program’s personality will reflect the dynamic best of the South Asian essence in Edmonton.
